Niveus Mangaluru Marathon 2024: City police issue traffic advisory for Nov 10

Mangaluru: Over 5,000 participants are expected to take part in the “Niveus Mangaluru Marathon 2024,” organized by the Mangalore Runners Club, scheduled to begin at 4:00 AM on November 10. In light of the marathon, the Mangaluru City Police has issued a traffic advisory, detailing restrictions and alternate routes to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The marathon will start from Mangala Stadium and follow a route that passes through Narayana Guru Circle (Ladyhill), Chilimbi, Urva Store, Kottara Chowki, Kodikal Cross, Kulur, KIOCL Junction, NMPT Service Road, and Dixie Cross. Runners will turn towards Panambur Beach Road, loop back at Dixie Cross, return to KIOCL Junction, and proceed to Tannirbavi Beach before concluding at Mangala Stadium.
Below are the traffic restrictions and alternative routes provided by the city police.
Roads with Vehicle Restrictions and No Parking
- Mannagudda to Narayana Guru Circle (Ladyhill): All vehicle movement and parking are prohibited.
- Urva Market to Narayana Guru Circle (Ladyhill): All vehicle movement and parking are prohibited.
- KSRTC via Lalbagh to Narayana Guru Circle (Ladyhill): All vehicle movement is prohibited.
- Narayana Guru Circle (Ladyhill) to Kottara Chowki: No vehicle movement or parking allowed.
- Kottara Chowki to Kodikal Cross (Service Road): Vehicle movement and parking are prohibited.
- Kodikal Cross to Kulur New Bridge: All vehicles are prohibited.
- Tannirbavi Beach Road to Tannirbavi Beach: No vehicle movement or parking allowed.
- All Side Roads along Marathon Route: Vehicles from side roads cannot enter the main route used for the marathon.
Suggested Alternative Routes
- PVS to Narayana Guru Circle (Ladyhill): Vehicles should take the Lalbagh-KSRTC route.
- Kudroli Mannagudda and Urva Market to Narayana Guru Circle (Ladyhill): Vehicles should proceed via Mannagudda-Ballal Bagh/Nehru Avenue Road-Lalbagh-KSRTC.
- KSRTC to Udupi: Vehicles should take the Bijai-Kapikad-Kuntikana route.
- KPT/Kuntikana to Udupi: Vehicles should take a right turn at Kodikal Cross flyover, proceed against traffic on the one-way Kulur-Kottara Cross route, and turn left at Kulur Old Bridge flyover end to use the KIOCL route.
- Kavoor-Panjimogaru to Udupi: Vehicles to use the Indian Oil Petrol Pump Service Road.
- Ashok Nagar, Shediguri, Dambel, Sultan Battery to Urva Market, Mannagudda: Vehicles should take the Urva Market-Mannagudda route.
With thousands of athletes and spectators expected, the police urge public cooperation and patience to support a safe and successful marathon event.
