Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. G. Santosh Kumar on Thursday directed Flying Squad team to conduct regular operations to curb unauthorized activities, such as lotteries, betting, and matka in the district.
Addressing the quarterly meeting of the Flying Squad at the DC’s office, Kumar stressed that inspection teams must work diligently, and a review meeting should be held every three months to assess actions taken in recent cases.
He urged the public to be cautious of online apps and scams, as fraudulent activities in which people invest money in fake schemes are on the rise. People should not trust unverified websites and invest only in nationalized banks, and they should report any cyber fraud cases without hesitation at the nearest police station.
Although Karnataka has banned lotteries, there have been reports of illegal lottery activities in areas near the Kerala border. Police officials were advised to regularly inspect these areas and take strict action against those involved in the illegal lottery trade.
The meeting was attended by ACP Manoj Kumar Nayak, DYSP Manjunath R.G., Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes (West Zone) D. Rangaraju, MP Prasanna (Assistant Director of Pension, Small Savings, and Property Debt Management), Anand M.P. (Pension and Small Savings Development Officer), and First Grade Assistant Anita Lakshmi M.H., among others.
