Prime Minister’s brother Somabhai visits Udupi’s Sri Krishna Matha

Udupi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s elder brother, Somabhai Modi, along with his wife Chandrikabai Modi, visited Udupi’s revered Sri Krishna Matha on Thursday to seek the blessings of Lord Krishna.

During the visit, Somabhai lit traditional lamps and offered special prayers at the Bhojana Shala, a significant hall at the matha. He later met with the current Paryaya Mathadheesha of Putthige Matha, Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Sripada, as well as the junior seer, Sri Sushreendra Tirtha Sripada, at the Geethamandira and received their blessings.

In an important spiritual gesture, he undertook the initiation for the ‘Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna’ from the seers. The family also observed a letter written by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, praising the matha’s spiritual mission.

The visit saw the participation of notable guests, including Govindbhai from Gujarat, Udupi-based ophthalmologist Dr. Krishnaprasad Kudlu, Shri Matha’s Diwan Nagraj Acharya, V. Prasanna Acharya, and other prominent individuals like Ratheesh Tantri and Santosh Shetty Tankerguttu.
