Malpe Beach, a popular destination along Karnataka’s coast, has seen a huge influx of visitors following the reopening of its renowned floating bridge on November 6.
Launched in 2021, this is Karnataka’s first floating bridge and has become a prime attraction for those wanting a unique seaside experience. Tourists flock to the beach daily, with numbers soaring between 4,000 and 5,000 on weekdays and peaking above 10,000 on weekends.
The bridge, measuring approximately 130 meters in length and 3 meters in width, accommodates over 200 visitors at a time who can enjoy scenic views, especially during sunset. The bridge is equipped with railings on both sides for safety, and a 15-foot-long and 8-foot-wide platform at the end gives tourists a stable space to take in the sea views.
Safety measures include 13 lifeguards, life jackets, and life buoys. Visitors are required to wear life jackets, and entry costs Rs 150 for a 15-minute experience.
