Chikkamagaluru: Reports of Naxalite activity; Police question two in Sringeri

Chikkamagaluru: Reports of suspected Naxalite movement in the Malenadu region of Chikkamagaluru have stirred local authorities. Following previous sightings of Naxalite presence in the Karkala area of the Western Ghats, police heightened vigilance in the area.

According to sources, acting on recent intelligence, police detained and questioned two Naxal sympathizers near Sringeri on Monday. The two individuals were taken in for questioning at a police station near Bukadibail in Nemmar, Sringeri Taluk.

Sources said the interrogation, led by District Superintendent of Police Dr. Vikram Amate, lasted several hours. The Anti-Naxal Force and local police are actively monitoring the situation.
