Puttur: Political tension as Congress worker records BJP membership drive

A minor tussle broke out between BJP members and a Congress worker near Kille Santhe in Puttur on Monday during the BJP’s membership drive.

The BJP’s membership campaign was taking place under a canopy set up alongside the city council’s compound wall, with refreshments provided for new members.

Noticing this, a Congress worker began filming the event, which reportedly led to an altercation as BJP members tried to snatch his phone to delete the video.

Though BJP has not commented on the incident, Puttur Congress General Secretary Ravi Prasad Shetty reportedly arrived to support the Congress worker. A viral video shows that people who came to the Santhe were made to participate in the BJP membership drive.
