Kinnigoli: About five days have passed since Karthik Bhat, a resident of Pakshikere, ending life after killing his child Hriday and wife Priyanka. Police continue their investigation into the alleged murder-suicide that has rocked the local community.
In the meantime, a complaint has been filed against Karthik regarding the misappropriation in the Cooperative Bank of Suratkal, where he was working as a manager.
A complaint was registered against Karthik by Mohammed, a resident of Pakshikere, who alleges that Karthik cheated him by releasing his pledged gold jewellery without authorization.
According to the complaint, Mohammed had availed a loan of Rs 3 lakh by pledging gold jewelry at the Cooperative Bank. However, the jewellery, which should have remained in bank custody until loan repayment, was allegedly released by Karthik within three months. Mohammed claims the jewellery is currently missing from the bank, raising suspicions of Karthik’s involvement in fraudulent activity.
In the complaint, Mohammed also provided details of his personal relationship with Karthik, elaborating on how he was deceived by the former manager.
Based on the allegations, the Suratkal police are actively gathering information from the bank’s staff where Karthik had worked to understand the sequence of events and possible breach of protocol.
Meanwhile, Mulki police conducted a mahajar at the crime scene. Sources indicate that yet another case involving Karthik is also being discussed. Another potential complainant expected to be filed in the coming days.
