The body of a missing elderly man from Sajipa Munnur village was found on the railway tracks in Ullal. The man, identified as 70-year-old Uggappa Poojary from Nagavalachil, had left his home on November 5 to withdraw his pension from a local bank but did not return, causing concern among his family members.
After withdrawing his pension, Uggappa reportedly called his daughter-in-law, attempting to say something before abruptly ending the call. When his family tried to contact him again, there was no response.
His family grew increasingly worried and launched a search, but when their efforts proved unsuccessful, his son Anil Kumar filed a missing person report at the Bantwal City Police Station.
On the same day, authorities discovered a body on the Ullal railway track, but without any claimants, it was preserved at the Wenlock Hospital mortuary in Mangaluru.
It was only on Thursday, November 14, when the family visited the hospital, that they identified the body as Uggappa Poojary’s. The Mangaluru Railway Police have since registered a case and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
