Karkala: The Solid and Liquid Resource Management (SLRM) staff of Miyar Gram Panchayat have earned widespread appreciation for their honesty in returning a 25-gram gold chain and cash found in garbage.
On November 15, while segregating dry waste collected in the Borkatte area of Miyaru village, the staff discovered a purse containing an estimated 25-gram gold chain and Rs 2,921 in cash. The staff immediately reported the matter to the Gram Panchayat. Upon checking the purse, they found an Aadhaar card belonging to Ganesh Shenoy of Borkatte.
When contacted, Ganesh Shenoy explained that the items were accidentally discarded due to his mother’s poor eyesight. The misplaced valuables were handed over to him through the Gram Panchayat later that afternoon.
Expressing his gratitude, Ganesh Shenoy lauded the honesty and efforts of SLRM staff members Lalitha, Sunitha, and Krishna, who were instrumental in returning the lost valuables worth lakhs of rupees.
In a time when greed often overshadows integrity, the sincere actions of these sanitation workers stand as a shining example of honesty and selflessness. Public appreciation poured in, with many considering it fortunate to have such honest workers dedicated to maintaining cleanliness in the community.
