Bantwal: A 14-year-old boy died after being struck by lightning in Kedila village on Sunday, November 17. The boy, who was seated in his house’s sit-out area, suffered critical injuries due to the lightning strike. Despite being rushed to the hospital, his life could not be saved.

The deceased has been identified as Subhodh C., son of Chandrashekar, a resident of Muriyaje near Peramogru in Kedila village. The incident took place around 5 PM on Sunday when the boy was seated in the sit-out area.

Subodh was immediately taken to Mani Health Center and later shifted to a private hospital in Puttur, where doctors declared him dead. Though there were no visible external injuries, doctors suspect internal damage caused his death.

The body was taken to Puttur Government Hospital for post-mortem and handed over to the family.

Local officials, including Vittal Revenue Inspector Prashanth Shetty, Kedila Village Administrative Officer Anil Kumar, Panchayat President Harish Valthaje, and members Umesh Murva and Aziz Puttur, visited the site and conducted an inspection.

Subodh was an 8th-grade student at Kalladka Sri Rama Vidyakendra High School. He is survived by his parents and twin siblings.
