Moodbidri: The District Kambala Committee has resolved that the decisions made by judges during Kambala events will be final and binding. The decision was taken during a meeting held in Moodbidri on Tuesday, chaired by District Kambala Committee President Belapu Deviprasad Shetty.

The committee clarified that neither the organizers nor the buffalo owners can challenge the judges’ decisions. If there is any dissatisfaction, concerns must be brought to the attention of the Kambala Committee and not directed at the judges.

Push for central recognition

Shetty announced that while the state government has already recognized Kambala, efforts are underway to secure recognition at the central level. An application for the same has been submitted.

Request for government funding

The committee expressed disappointment over the lack of funding for Kambala during the previous season. They urged district MLAs to advocate for budget allocation for Kambala events in the upcoming budget session.

Pilikula Kambala update

Referring to the much-anticipated Pilikula Kambala, Shetty stated that the event faced legal hurdles due to objections from animal welfare groups. However, the district administration and authorities are supportive, and efforts are being made to ensure the event proceeds without issues.

Expert Committee review at Pilikula

Meanwhile, the expert committee constituted by Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan visited Pilikula on Tuesday to assess the impact of Kambala on the nearby biological park and the well-being of animals. The four-member committee is expected to submit its detailed report to the Deputy Commissioner within a week.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Lokesh Shetty Mucharu, Honorary President Rohith Hegde Ermal, Vice President N. Rashmith Shetty, Treasurer Erimar Chandrahass Sanil, Chief Referee Rajeev Shetty Edur, and several buffalo owners, including Nandalike Srikant Bhat.
