Two diploma students from Dayananda Sagar College lost their lives in a bike accident near Ilyas Nagar under the Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police limits.

The deceased are Manoj (17) and Ritvik (17). Manoj was pursuing a diploma in Electronics, and his father works as a BMTC conductor. Ritvik, a diploma student in Information Science, was the son of a software engineer.

On Friday afternoon, the duo was heading to a mall in Bannerghatta. Manoj was riding the bike, while Ritvik was the pillion rider.

As per reports, their bike crashed into a tree and the duo sustained serious injuries. Locals rushed them to the hospital, but both succumbed to their injuries shortly after.

Preliminary investigation revealed that overspeeding caused the accident. Manoj was wearing a helmet, but Ritvik was not. The bike lost control and hit a roadside tree, leaving it heavily damaged.

Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
