Kumble police have detained a burqa-clad man sitting near women at a bus stop and are investigating whether he is a member of a notorious theft gang.

The infamous gang, which had spread fear across southern Kerala, is now suspected to have reached Kasaragod district. Police have warned citizens to stay vigilant.

The detained youth is reportedly a resident of Hassan and speaks Hindi.

Authorities suspect he might be part of the “Kuruva” gang, known for surveying areas during the day and committing thefts at night. Further investigations are underway.
