Mangaluru: Eminent dentist Dr. U.S. Krishna Nayak passes away

Mangaluru: Renowned dentist and Principal & Dean of A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Dr. U.S. Krishna Nayak (64), passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, after a brief illness.

He is survived by his wife, son Dr. Arjun Nayak U.S., and daughter Dr. Ekata Nayak U.S., both dentists. He leaves behind a large circle of friends, relatives, and admirers.

Born in 1961 to renowned dental surgeon Dr. U.S. Mohandas Nayak, Dr. Krishna Nayak completed his schooling and pre-university education at St. Aloysius School and College, Mangaluru. He pursued his dental education, including a postgraduate degree, at Manipal KMC. He also practised at the Nayak’s Dental Clinic in Mangaluru.

Dr Nayak received several prestigious awards, including the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award (2003), MFDS-RCPS from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow, Master of International College of Dentists, USA, Dr Keki Mistry Scroll of Honor, Excellence in Dental Leadership, and the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Orthodontic Society.

He served as President of the Indian Dental Association and the Indian Orthodontic Society and was a member of the Dental Surgery Board of Studies at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. He traveled extensively and participated in numerous national and international conferences. The American Biographical Society also honoured Dr. Nayak as the Man of the Year.
