Bengaluru: A crucial BJP core committee meeting was held on Saturday (December 7) at the Jagannath Bhavan, the party’s state headquarters, under the leadership of BJP Karnataka in-charge Dr. Radha Mohan Das Agarwal.

The meeting witnessed the presence of state president B.Y. Vijayendra, former chief ministers B.S. Yediyurappa and D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Karnataka Assembly Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka, former deputy chief minister Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan, MP Govind Karjol, former state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, and MLC C.T. Ravi.

The committee discussed several key issues, including internal dissent and rebellion within the party, amidst ongoing controversies in the state BJP unit.

No Leadership Change

Addressing the media after the meeting, Dr. Agarwal clarified that there was no question of leadership change in the state BJP. “B.Y. Vijayendra was appointed state president to strengthen the organization. Leadership change can only be decided by party workers and the high command. It cannot happen based on someone’s opinions,” he stated.

In a significant move, the committee reportedly recommended the suspension or expulsion of Yellapur MLA Shivaram Hebbar and Yeshwanthpur MLA S.T. Somashekar from the party. Both leaders are accused of distancing themselves from BJP activities ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
