Udupi: A wild leopard entered a residential area near Shankarapura Market and attacked a pet Persian cat in the yard of a house on the night of December 11.

The incident occurred at Margaret Judith D’Souza’s residence in Hithlu House, Shankarapura. The family noticed the cat missing the next morning and reviewed their CCTV footage, which revealed the leopard’s presence.

The footage showed the leopard roaming the area around 1:25 AM and eventually taking the cat away by 3 AM.

Manjunath Naik from the Forest Department confirmed that a cage has been set up in the Panjimaru area to capture the leopard.

Residents are on high alert, urging authorities to take swift action to prevent further incidents.
