The BJP OBC Morcha of Dakshina Kannada district staged a protest near PVS Circle in Mangaluru on Saturday, December 14, condemning the state government’s decision to withhold funds allocated for backward classes corporations.
Speaking during the protest, MLA Vedavyas Kamath criticized the Congress-led government under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for withdrawing over Rs 1,000 crore allocated for the development of backward classes during the previous BJP government’s tenure. He highlighted that the Basavaraj Bommai government had sanctioned Rs 31.23 crore specifically for Dakshina Kannada district as part of this initiative.
Kamath also questioned the silence of those who had previously campaigned for the formation of the Narayana Guru Corporation. “They marched demanding the formation of the corporation during BJP’s tenure, but now, when not a single rupee has been allocated to the corporation, where are they?” he asked.
BJP district president Satish Kumpala, state secretary of the OBC Morcha R.C. Narayan, district OBC Morcha president Mahesh Jogi, Women’s Morcha president Manjula Rao, Yuva Morcha president Nandan Mallya, and several other BJP leaders and members were present.
