Uppinangady: A KSRTC bus driver, allegedly heavily intoxicated, caused panic among passengers as he drove recklessly on Sunday night in Uppinangady.

The incident occurred when the KSRTC bus (KA-19 F3324), traveled from Puttur to Uppinangady and then towards Alanthaya.

Passengers, including women and children, screamed in terror as the bus zigzagged dangerously.

Noticing the chaos, local residents forcibly stopped the bus, dragged the driver out, and gave him a stern dressing down. The driver, who was reportedly swaying uncontrollably and unable to stand straight, was handed over to the police.

To avoid further distress for the stranded passengers, the bus conductor took over the steering wheel and drove the bus safely to its destination.
