M’luru: CCB police arrest Nigerian drug dealer, seize 30 gms of cocaine

CCB (Crime Branch) police have arrested a Nigerian national for trafficking cocaine from Goa to Mangaluru. The police seized 30 grams of cocaine from the possession of the accused identified as Michael Okafor (44).
Okafor, who was residing in Goa, had been supplying the banned narcotic to individuals in Mangaluru. The investigation revealed that Okafor had been operating as a drug supplier for some time, and his arrest is part of a larger crackdown on drug-related activities.
In March 2024, Okafor had supplied cocaine to local dealers in Mangaluru. Police arrested two individuals from Ulaibettu, Sadakat U Alias Shan Nawaz and Mohammad Ashfaq Alias Ashfa, who were involved in the illegal distribution. The police recovered 34 grams of cocaine and assets worth around Rs 2.72 lakh from them. Their interrogations led to the arrest of Okafor, who was also found to be in possession of drugs, a car, two mobile phones, and Rs 4,500 in cash.
Nigerian Drug Trafficker Had Been in India Since 2012
Okafor entered India on a business visa in 2012 and had lived in Mumbai for about 18 months before relocating to Goa. Police discovered that he was involved in at least three drug-related cases in Goa. The arrest was part of an operation by Mangalore CCB, led by Assistant Commissioner Manoj Kumar Naik, Inspector Shyam Sundar H.M., and PSI Sharanappa Bhandari.
