Former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh passes away at 92

Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away on Thursday, December 26 at the AIIMS Hospital in Delhi. He was 92.

The former PM was admitted to AIIMS Delhi on Thursday evening after his health deteriorated. He was admitted to the emergency department as his condition remained critical.

AIIMS bulletin said: “With profound grief, we inform the demise of the former Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh, aged 92.”

“He was being treated for age-related medical conditions and had a sudden loss of consciousness at home on 26 December 2024. Resuscitative measures were started immediately at home. He was brought to the Medical Emergency at AIIMS, New Delhi at 8:06 PM. Despite all efforts, he could not be revived and was declared dead at 9:51 PM,” it added.

Meanwhile, the INC taking to X wrote , “The demise of renowned economist and former Prime Minister of the country, respected Manmohan Singh ji, is an irreparable loss to Indian politics. May God give peace to the departed soul and strength to his family to bear this sorrow.The Delhi Congress family pays homage to the memories of respected Manmohan ji and expresses gratitude for his contribution to nation building.”

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s husband Robert Vadra expressed condolences after Singh’s demise.

Taking to X he wrote, “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ji. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. Thank you for your service to our Nation. You will always be remembered for your Economic revolution and the progressive changes, you brought to the country.”
