Kasaragod: Three boys drown in river near Bovikanam

Kasaragod: Three teenaged boys drowned while bathing in the river at Erinjappuzha near Bovikanam on Saturday afternoon around 2 PM.

The deceased have been identified as Muhammad Yaseen (13), son of Ashraf from Erinjappuzha; Riyas (16), son of Siddique; and Samad (14), son of Majeed, all hailing from the same locality.

Following the incident, a rescue operation was led by Police Sub-Inspector Saifuddin, involving a scuba diving team, the fire brigade from Kuttikkol, and local residents. While Riyas was retrieved and rushed to a hospital in Cherkala, attempts to save him were unsuccessful. The bodies of the other two victims were recovered later.

The tragic scene attracted a large crowd.

Minister Kadannappalli Visits Tragedy Site
Minister Kadannappalli Ramachandran visited the site upon learning about the incident. MLA C. H. Kunhambu and other dignitaries accompanied him. The minister, along with the MLA and other representatives, also visited the homes of the bereaved families to offer condolences.
