Bengaluru: Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, H.D. Kumaraswamy, supported establishing a dedicated academy, university, and research center for the Havyaka language.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the third World Havyaka Convention at Palace Grounds on Sunday, December 29, Kumaraswamy praised the Havyaka community’s contributions to literature, music, art, and media, despite its small size.
During the event, Udayavani Chief Editor Ravishankar K. Bhat highlighted the need for a study center or academy to safeguard the Havyaka language, traditions, and cultural practices. Kumaraswamy affirmed his commitment to this cause.
The minister also addressed issues faced by areca nut farmers, stating that the central government has allocated Rs 10 crore for research to address their challenges. He assured farmers that efforts are underway to tackle misinformation about areca nut and emphasized the government’s dedication to resolving their issues.
Kumaraswamy further reflected on the erosion of rural traditions and the increasing number of old-age homes, urging society to preserve the essence of village life and the discipline of previous generations.
