State Olympics to be held in Mangaluru and Udupi from Jan 17

Mangaluru: The State Olympics, organized by the Karnataka State Olympics Association, will be held in Mangaluru and Udupi from January 17 to 23. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is expected to inaugurate the event.

Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner M.P. Mullai Muhilan announced the details at a press conference, noting that this is the first State Olympics since the one held eight years ago in Dharwad.

Eleven sports will take place in Udupi, while 12 events will be conducted at various locations in Mangaluru. The games will feature open-category participation and are expected to attract top athletes from across the state.

Key events include basketball and fencing at U.S. Mallya Indoor Stadium, football and kho-kho at Nehru Maidan, swimming at Emmekere Swimming Pool, taekwondo at the Government Employees’ Hall, and weightlifting at Ambedkar Bhavan.

The inaugural ceremony will be held on January 17 in Mangaluru.
