A case has been registered at the City Police Station against a group of 7-8 Ayyappa devotees who allegedly caused a disturbance at Sri Krishna Matha.
According to a complaint filed by Ravindra, a security staff member of the Matha, the incident occurred during the Rathotsava procession when the deity’s idol in the palanquin was being carried from Matha’s outer premises to the inner sanctum. It is alleged that the group, hailing from Kerala, assaulted staff member Jagadish.
When Nagraj Acharya, the Diwan of the Matha, tried to intervene, the devotees reportedly attempted to attack him as well. In his complaint, Acharya mentioned that he, too, was attacked when he tried to stop the altercation. The accused have been identified as Shivakumar, Vishal, Raju, Naveen Raj, Ravikiran, Bhanu, Umendar, and Ravikanth. The police are investigating the matter.
