Gundlupet: Two killed, one injured as car crashes into electric pole

Two persons were killed and another sustained serious injuries after a car collided with an electric pole near Kumbaragundi in Kodasoge village on Wednesday, January 1.
The deceased have been identified as Pratap Kumar (28), an Assistant Power Man at the Bommalapura CESCOM office, and Kongallayya (45) of Kodasoge village. Abhi, a native of Mandya, sustained critical injuries in the accident.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday on the road from Kandegala to Kodasoge. A Baleno car veered off the road and crashed into an electric pole near Kumbaragundi. The impact caused the pole to break and fall onto the car, crushing it completely. Of the three occupants, two died on the spot, while the third was critically injured.
The injured person has been admitted to the district hospital in Chamarajanagar for further treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.
A case has been registered at the Therakanambi Police Station, and an investigation is underway.
