Ullal: Fisherman dies after falling into abandoned well near Someshwara beach

Ullal: A 74-year-old fisherman died after accidentally falling into an abandoned well near Someshwara Uchila Beach on Wednesday, January 1.

The deceased has been identified as Shashindra M. Uchil, a resident of Uchila Beach and a professional fisherman.

The incident occurred when Shashindra was conversing with a friend while sitting on the protective wall of the abandoned well on Tuesday, December 31, evening. He slipped and fell headfirst into the well.

He succumbed to severe head injuries in the fall due to the shallow, 3-foot-deep water level in the well. Locals retrieved his body, and Ullal police sent it for postmortem.

Shashindra is survived by his wife and two daughters. His wife was hospitalized and was scheduled for surgery.

The tragic incident has left the family devastated.
