Mangaluru police booked cases against 25 individuals for driving under the influence of alcohol during their widespread checks and inspections on New Year’s Eve.

The police had deployed its personnel in the city and its outskirts on Monday night to check for traffic violations.

At Nanthoor Junction, police inspected 90 vehicles, resulting in 3 cases. At Kottarachowki and Kuntikana Junctions, 98 vehicles were checked, leading to 5 cases. A further 230 vehicles were inspected at Baikampadi Junction, Koolur Ayyappa Temple, and Redrock Mukka, where 11 cases were filed. Additionally, 45 vehicles were checked at Pumpwell Junction and Padil Junction, and 6 cases were registered.

Police Celebrate New Year with Cake Distribution

In an interesting turn during the New Year’s Eve security and vehicle inspection operations, police personnel at Kadri were seen cutting a cake in celebration. The cake was then shared with fellow officers and vehicle drivers, adding a festive touch to the otherwise stringent security measures.
