In yet another incident, a moving car caught fire on the road leading to the Maryhill helipad on Wednesday evening.

Four persons inside the Volkswagen car quickly exited after it caught fire in its front section. Bystanders poured water to control the flames until personnel from Kadri Fire Department arrived at the scene. The engine of the car was completely damaged by the fire.

In the recent past many such mishaps have occurred in the city. On December 16, a Hyundai car caught fire near City Center on KS Rao Road, with the female driver escaping unharmed. On November 15, a car caught fire in Kadri, but the driver was able to escape just in time. On November 10, a Maruti-800 vehicle caught fire while waiting at a petrol pump in Ladyhill, and on September 28, a BMW vehicle was engulfed in flames in Adyar shortly after stopping by the roadside. A similar incident also occurred on September 5, when a BMW caught fire on National Highway-66 near Suratkal, with the passengers narrowly escaping a life-threatening situation.
