Annual Feast of St. Lawrence Basilica, Attur from Jan 26-30

Karkala: The annual feast of St. Lawrence Basilica, Attur, will be celebrated from January 26 to 30, 2025. The main celebratory Mass on January 26 at 10:30 AM will be presided over by the Bishop of Udupi, Most Rev. Gerald Isaac Lobo, who will lead the religious rites.

Highlights of the Feast:
January 27 (Monday):
– Main Mass at 10:00 AM will be led by Rev. Ferdinand Gonsalves, a senior priest of the Udupi Diocese.
– Special prayers and blessings for the sick will be conducted. On this day, vehicles carrying the sick will be permitted into the church premises.

January 28 (Tuesday):
– Evening Mass at 5:30 PM will be celebrated by the Bishop of Beltangady, Most Rev. Lawrence Mukkuzhy.

January 29 (Wednesday):
– Main Mass at 10:00 AM will be led by Most Rev. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, retired Bishop of Mangalore.

January 30 (Thursday):
– The concluding Mass at 10:00 AM will be presided over by Most Rev. Salvadore Lobo, retired Bishop of Baruipur.

Special Arrangements:
– Novena prayers in honor of St. Lawrence will commence on January 17, featuring Holy Mass at 9:30 AM, followed by special prayers for the devotees.
– A special children’s Mass will be conducted on January 26, with the first Mass at 7:30 AM and the last one at 8:00 PM.
– On January 28 and 29, Masses will begin at 8:00 AM, and the final Mass will conclude by 10:00 PM. On January 30, the last Mass will end at 8:30 PM.

Devotees can offer votive candles and purchase religious items from designated stalls in the church premises. Confession services and other spiritual provisions will be arranged for pilgrims during the novena and feast days.

The announcement was made by Most Rev. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi, and Rev. Alban D’Souza, Rector of the Basilica.
