The BMRCL security staff apprehended a person for allegedly taking photos and videos of a woman travelling on the metro.
The accused has been identified as Mahesh alias Mallesh, a native of Davangere, who currently resides in J.P. Nagar, Bengaluru. He practices as an Ayurvedic doctor.
The incident occurred on December 25 on a train from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda (Majestic) station to J.P. Nagar station.
The accused was seated in the same coach as the woman, a software engineer, when he allegedly took her photos on his mobile phone. The woman noticed this and confronted him. Later when the train arrived at Jayanagar Metro Station, she alerted the security personnel about the incident.
The metro security personnel detained Mahesh, reportedly roughing him up before informing the Jayanagar Police Station. The police took custody of Mahesh and conducted an inquiry.
Upon examining Mahesh’s mobile phone, police found photos and videos of the complainant along with several other obscene videos. The offensive content was promptly deleted.
Based on the victim’s complaint, a case of outraging a woman’s modesty was registered against Mahesh. However, police later released him after registering the case. Further investigation is underway.
