Udupi’s Manu Shetty selected as “Special Youth Icon” for Viksit Bharat ‘Young Leaders Dialogue’

Udupi: Manu Shetty, a resident of Inna village in Karkala taluk, has been selected as the “Special Invited Youth Icon” from Karnataka to participate in the Viksit Bharat Young Leader Dialogue convention, organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The event will be held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on January 11 and 12.

The two-day national convention aims to ensure active participation of youth in building a developed India. About 3,000 young men and women from across the country will take part in this grand event. Special Invited Youth Icons like Manu Shetty will serve as leaders for student teams. Participants include students who have excelled in various state-level competitions and been selected for the national level.

The convention will divide the 3,000 participants into 10 teams, each comprising around 300 students, and they will engage in multiple competitions. The Youth Icons will guide these teams, participating in discussions, presentations, and debates on various sectors contributing to India’s development. Exhibitions by different departments, as well as dialogues with dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, central ministers, officials, and renowned national and international experts, will be key highlights.

Manu Shetty, currently pursuing her first-year BA at MGM College, Udupi, is an active member of the student organization ABVP and also a member of JCI Padubidri. She is the daughter of entrepreneur Inna Uday Shetty and former Zilla Panchayat member Reshma Uday Shetty.

Speaking about her selection, Manu said, “Students who have won various state-level competitions are participating in the ‘Viksit Bharat Young Leader Dialogue.’ However, I have been invited as a Special Youth Icon. Several names from ABVP were recommended to the Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, and both I and Gagan from Bengaluru have been selected to represent Karnataka. I feel extremely happy and privileged to take part in this program as a Youth Icon in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
