Manjeshwar: A major fire broke out at M.A. Frameworks, a plywood mill operating in Battipadavu under the Meenja Gram Panchayat.
The fire reportedly originated in the dust collector unit, where plywood dust is stored, and soon engulfed the entire section. Workers were present on the premises at the time of the incident. Despite efforts by the locals to douse the flames, they were unsuccessful and informed the Uppala Fire and Rescue Department.
Two fire tenders arrived at the scene and managed to bring the fire under control.
The mill’s owner, A.K. Niyaz, a resident of Mangaluru, estimated the loss to be around Rs 8 lakh.
