Udupi: Inspired by the models of Kashi and Ayodhya, the Sri Krishna Corridor project is being proposed to prioritize the city’s development.
Speaking about the project, Municipal Council President Prabhakar Poojary Gundibail said discussions were held with Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Sri Puthige Math. A blueprint has been prepared, and plans are underway to request funding of Rs 300 to Rs 400 crore from the Central Government by meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
During a press meet, Poojary explained the proposed developments, including the construction of a well-equipped ring road, improved traffic management systems, installation of advanced CCTV networks, and multi-level parking facilities. Additionally, a flyover is planned along the Karavali Bypass-Kalsanka-Manipal route. Alternative roads will also be constructed to ease traffic congestion, he said.
The road leading to the press club will be named after journalist Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty, he added.
