Shivamogga: Newborn found abandoned on roadside; rescued by locals

Locals found a newborn baby abandoned on the roadside in Srirampura here on the morning of Friday, January 10.

It is suspected that the baby was born the previous night. The baby was found wrapped in clothing in a handbag and discarded near a borewell on 2nd Cross, Sriramapura.

Locals discovered the baby boy and immediately alerted the health department. However, before officials arrived, the compassionate residents stepped in, bathed the baby, and provided initial care.

The baby has since been admitted to the maternity and pediatric ward of McGann Hospital, where he is receiving medical attention.

Child Development Project Officer Gangabai visited the hospital to gather details about the incident. Meanwhile, Tungnagar police have inspected the spot and initiated an investigation.
