Udyavara: Bike and truck catch fire after collision, one dead

Katapadi: One person was killed in a major road accident involving a two-wheeler and a truck that took place on late Friday night near Bailepade on National Highway 66 in Udyavara.
The deceased has been identified as Avinash Acharya (19), a resident of Paniyoor.
Avinash, a paramedical student in Udupi, was returning to Paniyoor via Udyavara after attending a program at an acquaintance’s house when the accident took place. Though he was rushed to the hospital with the help of locals he succumbed to the injuries.
Reportedly, the accident occurred when the bike got stuck under the truck, leading to a fire that engulfed both the bike and the truck.
The truck, originating from Kerala, carried both the driver and the cleaner, who escaped unhurt.
The intensity of the collision completely destroyed both the bike and the truck in the ensuing fire.
Udupi Fire and Emergency Services arrived at the scene and successfully extinguished the flames.
