Police seize arms and ammunition following surrender of six naxals in Koppa

In a significant development, six Naxals recently surrendered, leading to a major arms and ammunition seizure by the police in the forested area near Kittaleguli hamlet under the jurisdiction of Jayapura Police Station, Koppa.
During the operation, police recovered a cache of weapons, including:
– AK-56 rifles
– 303 rifles
– Indigenously made pistols
In addition, a total of 176 rounds of ammunition were seized, comprising:
– 7.62 mm AK rounds
– 303 rifle cartridges
– Bore cartridges
– Ammunition for indigenously made pistols
The seizure has been officially registered under Crime Number 14/25 at Jayapura Police Station, invoking Sections 3, 25(1), 7, and 25(10) of the Arms Act. District Defense Officer Vikram Amate confirmed the details of the operation.
Police officials stated that the operation was carried out based on information provided by the surrendered Naxals. While the Naxals did not voluntarily surrender their weapons, they disclosed key details regarding the location of the hidden cache. This marks the first step in uncovering further hidden arms in the area.
