Two officials from the BBMP South Zone office near South End Circle have been suspended for dereliction of duty following a surprise inspection by Upalokayukta Justice Veerappa.
The suspended officials include Kavitha, a second-grade employee, and Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) Sujatha. During the inspection, it was discovered that Kavitha had left the office and had her son occupy her seat and handle her responsibilities. The ARO was also found to be negligent in her duties.
Recently, Lokayukta police conducted raids on 54 BBMP offices, including the South End Circle Assistant Revenue Officer’s office. During the investigation, it was revealed that an employee was absent from her post, leaving her son to work in her stead. The son reportedly used the official’s login credentials to perform her tasks.
The Lokayukta authorities filed a complaint with the Siddapura police, leading to the arrest of Naveen, the employee’s son, who was working without authorization. He is currently under investigation.
In light of these revelations, both officials have been suspended for misuse of authority and dereliction of duty. Sources within the BBMP confirmed that strict action is being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
