Bengaluru: National Commission for Women (NCW) has issued summons to Karnataka state Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Abu Azmi in connection with their controversial statements on sexual abuse on girls by men at the streets of Bengaluru city in a New Year celebration gathering at the midnight of December 31, 2016. The home minister and SP leaders made a controversy by blaming the girls for the incident. The both said the girls are directly responsible for the incident as they expose nudity in their behavior and dress at midnight in the streets.

Speaking on the summons issued National Women’s Commissions Chairperson Lalitha Kumaramangalam said, the commission won’t tolerate any disgusting statements on the incident by anyone. Therefore, the both leaders have been issued with the summons irrespective of their political status and party.
