Apex Court asks Karnataka to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu till Feb 7

New Delhi/Bengaluru: Supreme Court has asked the Karnataka state government on Wednesday to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu till February 07 or till a judgement passed on the appeal submitted by three states, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
According to the order by three members bench headed by Justice Deepak Misra said, Karnataka should release 2, 000 cu-secs water to Tamil Nadu on daily basis till February 07 when appeals on judgement passed by the Cauvery Tribunal on Cauvery water dispute will be heard by the Supreme Court on Cauvery water dispute.
Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala had questioned the judgement issued by Cauvery tribunal in the apex court whereas Puducherry supporting the union government’s stand, filed an objection opposing the appeal submitted by the three state governments. After hearing the arguments from four states the supreme court decided to accept the case for hearing on February 07.
