Bengaluru: In the wake of Supreme Court’s stay order on Akrama-Sakrama scheme, Karnataka state government has decided to obtain legal support from the experts to submit an appeal before the apex court to remove the stay order. The government has also decided to get assistance for other legal actions to be taken to continue with the scheme in the state.

The Apex court stay order on the scheme came after an appeal from Namma Bengaluru Foundation which alleged that the scheme Akrama Sakrama was introduced to protect some corporate giants. At present, the state government should produce its argument before the Supreme Court that the scheme is for the members’ middle and lower middle class families in the state, the sources said.

The government has also decided to obtain legal support from department of law and advocate general of Karnataka. Earlier, the high court had given green signal to the state government’s Akrama Sakrama scheme after an appeal against the scheme by Namma Bengaluru Foundation. The foundation later questioned the judgment passed by the Karnataka high court in the apex court.
