Bengaluru: Udupi based Justice Vishwanath Shetty has rejected all corruption allegations made against him after recommending him as Karnataka Lokayukta. Karnataka Governor has returned the recommendation made by the state government and asked the government to give clarification on the allegations made on Justice Shetty. Justice Shetty said in an exclusive interview to Udayavani that he didn’t commit any wrong doing in the past and said the allegations are baseless as some individuals are trying not to fill Lokayukta top post. Some activists had alleged that Justice Shetty owns more than 4 acres of government pasture land in Bengaluru in addition to the site allotted.
“I have sufficient documents, records for the land owned by me and my wife in Bengaluru. I have been recommended by a high level committee and I have vast experience as high court judge in Karnataka. When I was working as judge in Karnataka no one had raised his voice against me on the land owned by me. Then why these people are objecting the recommendation of the state government,” Justice Vishwanath Shetty asked.
He further added that he would respect Governor and his position and don’t want to comment on the decision made by him. He also said that he just wanted to become Lokayukta to serve the people.
