Closure of Mantri Mall witnesses smoother traffic on Malleswaram roads

Bengaluru: People of Malleswaram in the state capital are relieved as the area has witnessed lesser traffic congestion after Mantri Mall was closed following a wall collapse earlier this week.
Locals say that till the mall came up, traffic was smooth, but thereafter traffic congestions had caused lot of inconvenience to people. Sources say that the area has several narrow roads and huge trees at the sides made it difficult for roads to be broadened.
Residents say that they were aware that due to the narrow roads, no commercial establishments would come up, but once the BBMP granted permission for the mall, it created lot of problems. It is said that people took nearly 30 minutes to reach Malleswaram Circle from Anand Rao Circle. However, they are happy now as traffic moved smoothly due to the closure of the mall.
Meanwhile, employees of the mall have faced the brunt of the closure as the commercial establishments were a source of their livelihood.
Mantri Mall was closed after the parapet wall collapsed on January 16 at about 3 pm.
