New Delhi: National Green Tribunal (NGT) has adjourned its hearing on Yettinahole project to February 06 after criticising the state government heavily for its stand on the issue. The NGT asked the government why it failed to recongnise the environmental cost which is expected hit the ecological balance in the state, once the project implemented.
The NGT bench consisting of its chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar, Justice Raghvendra Rathore and expert member on the issue Ajay Deshpande were questioned the advocate representing the state government on the initiatives take by the government to minimise the environment damage during the implementation of the project. The advocate failed to provide proper repose to the tribunal on the questions raised.
The state government also failed to prove its argument that there won’t be any environmental damage, if the project implemented. Meanwhile, a survey report prepared by the joint committee didn’t reflect any reality of the area where the project is being implemented as of now. The bench blamed the government advocates for not having proper knowledge on the project.
