MHA sends high-level delegation to Bengaluru air show

New Delhi/Bengaluru: For the first time, the Home Ministry has sent a high-level delegation to the premier air show Aero India in Bengaluru as part of its quest to create a dedicated air wing for internal security duties.

Led by Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi, the team will visit stalls of various exhibitors in the air show, interact with manufacturers, aviation experts and other stake holders, official sources said.

Inspectors general of various paramilitary forces are part of the delegation, which will stay in Bengaluru for two days.

At present, the Border Security Force, under the Home Ministry, operates a small fleet of fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters for various internal security responsibilities.

The eleventh edition of Aero India, being held at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru, started on February 14 and will end on February 18.
