K’taka: Kambala bill forwarded to President after Governor refuses to sign

Bengaluru/Mangaluru: Thousands of people supporting the Kambala have their hopes hanging in balance as Governor of Karnataka Vajubhai Vala has refused to sign the Kambala bill passed by both the houses of the state legislature; he has instead forwarded the bill to the President for approval.

Governor Vala refused to sign the bill stating that the amendment brought to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 of the Central Government by the state required the President’s approval.

The Karnataka government had passed the bill keeping in mind ancient culture.
