Raichur: Responding to allegations that Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had paid a hefty amount to the Congress high command so that he could retain his position and that Yeddyurappa had threatened to send him to jail once the BJP assumed power in the 2018 assembly polls, Siddaramaiah on Thursday questioned as to how could Yeddyurappa send him to jail at a time when inquiries in more than 20 cases were going on against him (Yeddyurappa).
Addressing the media, CM Siddaramaiah said that Yeddyurappa should know that he had to first prove the allegations to send him to jail. This shows how desperate he has become without power, he added.
Further, the Chief Minister said that the BJP leader made such allegations just to divert people’s attention from the demonetisation issue.
Responding to a query, CM Siddaramaiah said that the state government had so far received only Rs 450 crore for drought relief projects from the Union government.
Hitting back at the former Chief Minister, Congress leaders at the ‘Sathyameva Jayathe’ rally here on Thursday, warned Yeddyurappa, that he would be sent to jail in cases which the state had appealed against him.
Meanwhile, KPCC president, Dr G Parameshwara warned that no one, including BJP chief Amit Shah or B S Yeddyurappa could make Karnataka Congress-free.
