ECI extends ban on Exit Polls in 2 constituencies of UP, Uttarakhand till March 9

New Delhi: Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended prohibition on conduct of exit polls in two constituencies of Uttar Pradesh and Uttara Khand until 05.30 PM of March 09, 2017, according to a notification released on Saturday.
Following the death of two contesting candidates, Chand Shekhar of Alapur assembly constituency of the Uttar Pradesh and Kuldeep Singh Kanwasi of Karna Prayag assembly constituency of Uttarakhand, the commission has adjourned the poll in the two constituencies and fixed March 9 as the new date of poll in the two constituencies. In view of the above, the commission has extended the period of prohibition of conduct of exit polls up to 5.30 PM of March 09, 2017.
The commission had earlier notified the period of prohibition on conduct of exit polls for on-going state legislative assembly elections in Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh in the vide notification dated January 27, 2017. The period notified was from 07.00 AM of February 04 to 17.30 hours of March 8, 2017.
