Can 6 New Medical Colleges, 5 Multi Specialty Hospitals Reduce Doctor, Patient Ratio in  Karnataka?

Bengaluru: Karnataka state government will start 6 new medical colleges and five multi specialty hospitals in Davanagere, Tumkur, Vijayapura, Kolar, and Ramnagar in an attempt to provide quality medical service to the people and reduce doctor, population ratio in the state and country. According to Medical Council of India data of 2016, the doctor-population ratio in the country stands at 1:1681.

Also, 16, 500 nurses working in government hospitals, medical colleges will be provided with computer tab to improve their working conditions. The government also plans to construct 28 lakh toilets under new ‘Shauchalayakkagi Samara,’ scheme, said Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presenting his state budget 201-18 in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
