New Budget Pushes Various Pensions, Honorariums of Karnataka Government

Bengaluru: Karnataka State government has raised freedom fighters’ monthly pension from Rs 8, 000 to Rs 10, 000 whereas pension given to the Goa liberation fighters has been raised from Rs 3000 to Rs 4000, said Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presenting his state budget for 2017-18 in the legislative assembly session on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, monthly honorarium of district panchayat members’ has been increased from Rs 3000 to Rs 5000 where as taluk panchayat members’ honorarium jumped to Rs 4, 500 to Rs 6, 000. Gram Panchayat members’ also receive Rs 1000 per month as increased honorarium.  

Old age monthly pension has also shown an uptrend in the budget presented from Rs 200 to Rs 500.  ASHAs workers of the state will receive special honorarium of Rs 1000 per month. Also, the wives of the deceased farmers who died in suicide attempt will get Rs 2000 as pension every month, according to the budget presented today.  Retired journalists’ pension has also been raised from Rs 8, 000 to Rs 10, 000 according to the new budget announcement.
