Horrible Explosion Kills 2, Injures 4 while Making Fireworks near Vitla in Dakshina Kannada

Vitla: In a horrible incident in Dakshina Kannada district two people killed and four other injured in an explosion while making fireworks for a private function here Kambalabettu in Mudnuru village of Vitla on Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as Kambalabettu Nooji resident Abdul Ajeem (24) and laborer Sundara Poojary from Karyadi (42).
The two died on the spot when they had been working to make fireworks at the residence of Abdul Ajeem even if the he has a separate plant for making the fireworks near his residence.The firework maker Abdul Ajeem has necessary permission from the authorities to produce fireworks, however he was making cartridges at his residence for unknown reasons. The incident took place in the evening hours of March 20 and the bodies of the two have split into several pieces and spread 100 to 200 meters around the residence.
The neighbors residing 100 meter away from the residence of Abdul Ajeem were also injured in the incident. The injured have been identified as Asima (39), Pushpavathi (48), Sujatha (26) and three year old boy Sathwik.
Late Ibrahim Saheb, father of the deceased, Abdul Ajeem was a famous fire work maker and he was popular as ‘Garnal Saheb’ in the locality. He was a major supplier of the fireworks in Dakshina Kannada. Garnal Saheb was died a year ago due to his old age.
Exact reason for the explosion is not known. However, the police suspect that the explosion might have occurred as a result of an imbalance while mixing the chemicals to prepare the explosives. Steep rise atmosphere temperature may have supported the incident, the sources said.
